Beginnings--by Kimberly B. Southall

As we begin yet another new year, let’s first turn our focus on the beginning.  A description of the beginning is found in a fitting place—Genesis chapter one, the beginning of the Bible.

What could be more wondrous and awe-inspiring than to try to envision the beginning when God made the world and everything in it!  From absolutely nothing, He created the entire universe in only seven 24-hour days.  (Contrary to what evolutionists and “day-agers” teach, the scriptures in Genesis 1:5, 8, 13, 19, 23, and 31 clearly define a creation “day” for us: “there was evening, and there was morning—the first day,” etc.  That should be clear enough for anyone.)  When we consider how little we can accomplish in one week, it makes it even more amazing that God created the entire world in that period of time!

So, as we face this upcoming year, think about what wondrous things God can do in one week, not to mention the next 12 months!  And we can be a part of His wonders if we strive to follow His will and allow Him to work through us.  The  possibilities and His powers are endless!
